DESCRIPTION:The Sister Bay Advancement Association and Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant are pleased to announce the 11th Annual Roofing of the Goats Parade\, scheduled for Saturday\, June 14th\, 2025\, in downtown Sister Bay.\nThe parade begins promptly at 11:00 a.m. at the intersection of Mill Road and Highway 42\, proceeding southward to Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant. The highlight of the event will be when the goats are ceremonially guided onto the restaurant’s famous green sod roof.\nFeaturing goats from Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant and local farms\, the parade has grown into a beloved kickoff to Door County’s summer tourism season. Attendees are reminded that Highway 42 will be closed to motorized traffic from approximately 10:30 a.m. until after the parade. Additionally\, parade-goers are asked to leave their dogs at home\, as goats are known to be easily frightened by dogs.\nSpectators can participate in a fun fundraising event by purchasing “Goat Drop Stickers” online at https://www.aljohnsonsshop.com/goat-drop-charity-sticker for $10 each (you don’t need to attend the parade to win!) or at roadside booths along Highway 42. Proceeds benefit Koinonia Kupboard\, a food pantry managed by First Baptist Church of Sister Bay. DESCRIPTION:Parade begins at the corner of Mill Road and Highway 42 in downtown Sister Bay\, and goes a trot\, kick\, and a leap down the road to Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant. The parade culminates with the roofing of the first goats of the season at Al Johnson’s (weather permitting – the goats don’t go on the roof in rain or snow). The Goat Parade will be followed by Al Johnson’s Annual Goat Fest\, located at Stabbur Beer Garden (next to the restaurant). Goat Fest will feature all day festivities including: live music\, kid’s games\, various beverages\, great food\, and a Swedish Pancake Eating contest. Other businesses throughout town will also be celebrating with specials. \nAll goats are invited to participate in the parade! (please leash or harness goats) Goat costumes\, Viking hats\, and other creative endeavors are encouraged. \nReturning this year is the Goat Drop Contest. Help support the Northern Door Food Pantry and have some fun as well. Stickers will be placed on the street along the parade route. To win\, a Goat must make a deposit on your sticker during the Goat parade. All proceeds will go to the Northern Door Food Pantry at the Sister Bay Baptist Church. DESCRIPTION:Joseph Huber hails from the state of Wisconsin\, and seems to bring forth the varied voices of whatever it may be that lies dormant within either the fertile soil or the callous concrete of that world. It has been said\, “You don’t just like Joseph Huber’s music. You feel it’s something that the rest of the world needs to hear\, and how criminal it is that it isn’t spreading far and wide.” That sentiment could be related to the fact that the voices which Huber unearths are subtle and take more than a hurried listen to truly absorb. A person who appears reserved and matter-of-fact in everyday speech brings forth songs that are anything but that. \n\nAs the singer\, songwriter\, performer\, recorder and producer of all of his own material\, Huber has his hands full\, but never seems to miss a beat. And his own ‘solo’ material has now certainly surpassed the output of his past efforts\, both in volume and substance. As one of the founding member of the .357 String Band–a group that would probably fit better in today’s ‘Americana-saturated’ environment than in the early to middle aughts–he’s gradually honed a sound that seems to fill a very real gap within the still-emerging genre. Having progressed\, Huber continues moving onward and upward captivating folks with his sincere and well-crafted songs under his own name along with the impeccable musicianship of his fellow touring partners.
